This month Alina Halloran Design was featured in Kitchen & Bath Design News talking about the countertop trends taking place in kitchen design. Kitchens are the working heart of a home and require both functionality and beauty in their design.
Our farmhouse remodel kitchen was featured and this kitchen had to fulfill a lot of duties for a family of four that frequently entertain large groups and parties. The remodel involved shifting the kitchen from the front to the back of the house in an open plan, looking out onto landscaped gardens and the pool.
The owners loved the idea of a marble island with the classic shaker style cabinets, but they wanted the rest of their counters to be in a material that would hold up to the hard work of large scale entertaining. We chose Neolith's Pietra Di Luna for the perimeter counters and buffet.
We have been utilizing sintered stone products, such as Neolith and Dekton, for a number of years and love the range of finishes and practicality they offer for heat and scratch resistance. As when selecting any finishes for the kitchen, we review the functional requirements as well as the overall design goals and aesthetics.
All surfaces and counter materials have pros and cons and working through them is a critical part of the design process. The silk finish of this product was the perfect compliment to the Calacutta Oro marble island and backsplash tile.
